Nicki Minaj Praises Davido's Songwriting Talent in New Track

Famous American rapper, Nicki Minaj featured Afrobeats sensation Davido in her new track ‘If It’s Okay’ off the 10th-anniversary special edition of Nicki’s legendary album The Pinkprint, which was originally released in 2014.

On November 22, 2024, Nicki Minaj released a 10th-anniversary version of ‘The Pinkprint’ with 4 new tracks featuring Swae Lee, Juice Wrld, David Guetta and Davido as reported by Revolt. The special edition album has received global accolades from listeners of the rapper.

In Nicki Minaj’s quest to infuse Afrobeat into the album, she featured Davido on one of the added four tracks. The “If It’s Okay” track has attracted the attention of Nigerians and citizens of other countries, who couldn’t help but gush over the genius masterpiece.

On a viral X post, a fan of Minaj asked her what drew her to Davido for the track. The X user went further to conclude that Davido was the best choice for the ‘masterpiece’.

“What drew you to Davido for the song “If it’s Okay”? In my opinion, he was an ideal choice for this incredible masterpiece! He was speaking that ish .”, the user wrote.

Replying to the post, Nicki Minaj explained that she featured him for the Afrobeats feeling in the new song. She also eulogized Davido, calling him an incredible writer and melody maker.

“That man is an incredible writer & melody maker. It’s always a pleasure working with him b/c of our mutual respect for one another. I asked him to be apart of it in order to bring out the Afro beats tempo/feeling in it a bit more. 🇳🇬 Naija to the 🌎”

Recall that Davido also featured Nicki in a track off his 2020 ‘A Better Time’ album titled: “Holy Ground”.

The track is part of the 10th-anniversary special edition of Nicki Minaj’s iconic album The Pinkprint, which was originally released in 2014.The commemorative edition features four brand-new tracks, including collaborations with Swae Lee (Turn Ya Cap Back), David Guetta and Davido (If It’s Okay), and the late Juice WRLD (Arctic Tundra).
